Meetings

We meet on the second and fourth Tuesdays of the month at 7:00 PM.

NEW: Click below for list of programs this year.

  • Program Meetings

At our first meetings of the month, on second Tuesdays, we have presentations from various quilters, demonstrations of techniques, and work nights making quilts to be donated to charities. We meet in person at Lifelong on Court Street in Ithaca.

  • Second Meetings

Our second meeting of the month, on fourth Tuesdays, is usually a themed show-and-tell night. Each April and October we hold our bi-annual business meetings. There is no second meeting in December.

  • Next Meeting

Tuesday May 14 on Zoom. The ergonomics of healthy quilting from Rose Parr: how high your cutting table should be, your ironing board, sewing chair, and sewing table. Rose has stretches designed for quilters' trouble spots that can be done right in your sewing room.

Tuesday May 28, 7pm at Lifelong. Barbara Dimmock starts us on a walk through TCQG history, looking back at the first decade of the guild’s existence, 1974-1983. After a slide presentation, our show and tell will feature quilts made during the years 1974-1983. If you have a quilt from that decade, please bring it along.

  • Work Nights

We gather once or twice a year to make quilts for donation. When we meet, we bring sewing machines, irons and ironing boards, and cutting mats to work on quilts. If we are meeting remotely, we work in our homes while chatting virtually and sharing our progress. We then drop off our work for individual members to distribute to charities as part of our community service.

  • Social Meetings

In August we have a picnic at Stewart Park, and in December there is a holiday party. Both feature the wonderful food made by our members. At the picnic, we enjoy sunset over Cayuga Lake and a display of quilts. In December there are various entertainments, including games and presents.

A pattern for a holiday block is made by one of our members. These have been cardinals or snowmen or stars in the past. All members are encouraged to make them, enter them into a draw and win blocks to make something festive.

  • Business Meetings

In October and April, the second meeting of the month is a guild business meeting. Officers are elected, we hear reports of the activities of committees, and make decisions about the budget. All members are urged to attend.
