Classes and Workshops in and around Tompkins County
We offer over 150 classes a year. You can learn a specific technique or start a new quilt project. We have expert instruction in traditional hand methods as well as state of the art machine techniques taught by national award winners. You can always find classes for the beginner to advanced sewers. Taking classes is one way to open your eyes to new ideas and expand your sewing repertoire. The one and two session classes are perfect for busy sewers and out of town visitors.

Sewing and knitting classes are held at SewGreen. In most cases, all materials are supplied. Most projects are gender-neutral. Men and boys are always welcome in our classes.

We partner with local makers, experts and artists to bring classes, workshops and special events to the Ithaca, New York area. students of all ages, skill levels, and backgrounds, enriching the lives of more than 1000 students each year.
Quilting by the Lake (QBL) began in 1981 as a four-day quilting conference in Cazenovia, NY, and has grown into a two-week, internationally recognized quilting event attracting over 200 participants from around the country and overseas. From the beginning, QBL recruited some of the most innovative and legendary quilters to teach and that tradition continues today. Classes are offered in design, techniques and surface design during the last two weeks each July. No matter what your style- traditional, art or modern- all quilters are welcome.
