Meetings are held at Lifelong, 119 W. Court St., Ithaca, NY, on the 2nd and 4th Tuesday of most months, 7:00-9:00PM. Only one meeting is held in December, and this is a holiday party. In August we often have a dish-to-pass picnic at Stewart Park, and in November we often visit the Schweinfurth Memorial Art Center's Quilts=Art=Quilts show in Auburn.
The meeting on the second Tuesday of the month is designated as a program meeting. An activity is usually scheduled. The meeting on the fourth Tuesday of the month is a "working" meeting where some business may be discussed, a guild project may be set up to work on, and/or members are encouraged to bring handwork of their own. "Show and Tell" occurs at EVERY meeting. Everyone is encouraged to bring finished or in-progress works to share with the group.
The guild's functions include the following:
-We hold a quilt show every second year which displays members' and local quilters' works to the public.
-We often travel as a group to quilt shows and other functions within day-trip distance, and groups of members may charter private transportation and make 2- or 3-day trips to large shows in other states.
-We schedule a quilt retreat for a weekend each Spring and Fall at Camp Casowasco on Owasco Lake where quilters can go and quilt uninterrupted for a weekend.
-We sponsor notable quiltmakers and teachers to teach workshops and give public lectures once or twice a year.
-Service quilts are made by the guild to give to worthy causes as fund-raisers. Additionally, the guild is very active in donating baby quilts to the ABC Quilt Project.
-The guild maintains an extensive lending library of quilting books and magazines, patterns, and some equipment for the use by its members.
-We have a funds available to members who would like to participate in a guild activity, but who may not be financially able to do so.
-Several small groups of guild members (maximum size of 15) meet monthly. These groups plan their own agenda and schedule.
